Sri yoga peeth yoga ashram situated in the valley of Himalayas is welcoming everyone to attend a 100 hour, 200-hour Ashtanga yoga teacher training in Rishikesh India. Ashtanga yoga is a fixed sequence of some Asanas made by the great yogi K. Pratibha Joshi during the 20th century. The Ashtanga yoga primary sequence comes from the ancient Sanskrit text Yoga Korunta. This sequence is coupled with the synchronized breathing techniques promoting a flow, which is called as the Vinyasa style of Asanas.

Together the name is called Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Students are taught Ashtanga primary series so that they can develop a solid foundation of Asana with proper alignment in a flow, which is required for the higher techniques of yoga including Bandhas, Drishti, Breath, and Meditation. This course will teach you the proper techniques of practicing yoga posture of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga along with necessary alignment, modification and counterposes. Students will also be exposed to the proper use of yoga props (blocks, straps, bolster, yoga wall ropes, etc), teachings methods and principles of adjustments.

This will prepare a complete Ashtanga yoga teacher out of them. Our Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training India is limited to 16 students at a time. In our ashtanga teacher training course, we cover the full primary sequence. The course is conducted by the team of an experienced and able teacher. Our course meets and exceeds Yoga Alliance USA accreditation requirements. This teacher training course includes the practice and classes of asana, Pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, the anatomy of yoga and teaching methodology. The brief syllabus can be found below:

What Is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

In our Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training India, our Ashtanga sequence starts with the 5 sets of ‘Sun Salutation Series A’ followed by 5 sets of ‘Sun Salutation Series B’, various standing postures, sitting postures and finishing sequence.

K. Pattabhi Jois developed different sequences for a different level of students. For example, for beginners he made primary series famously called as ‘Yoga Chikitsa’ i.e. Yogic healing, for intermediate students, there is an intermediate series called as ‘Nadi Shodhana’, and for the advanced level students he made the four advance series called as ‘Sthira Bhaga’. There are Advance A (Third series), Advance B(Fourth Series), Advance C(Fifth Series), Advanced(Sixth Series).

ASHTANGA OPENING MANTRA

The traditional style of Ashtanga yoga classes always begins with the fixed mantra or prayer which is known as the Ashtanga opening mantra:

Vande Gurūṇāṁ Caraṇāravinde Saṁdarśita Svātma Sukhāvabodhe
Niḥśreyase Jāṅ̇Galikāyamāne Saṁsāra Hālāhala Mohaśāntyai
Ābāhu Puruṣākāraṁ Śaṅ̇Khacakrāsi Dhāriṇam
Sahasra Śirasaṁ Śvetam Praṇamāmi Patañjalim

This prayer can be translated into English as:

I bow to the lotus feet of the gurus,
The awakening happiness of one’s own self revealed,
Beyond better, acting like the jungle physician,
Pacifying delusion, the poison of Samsara.

Taking the form of a man to the shoulders,
Holding a conch, a discus, and a sword,
One thousand heads white,
To Patanjali, I salute.

The traditional style of Ashtanga yoga classes are also finished with the special mantra known as the closing mantra

Svastiprajābhyaḥ Paripālayantāṁ Nyāyena Mārgeṇa Mahīṁ Mahīśāḥ
Gobrāhmaṇebhyaḥ Śubhamastu Nityaṁ Lokāḥ Samastāḥ Sukhinobhavantu

This prayer is translated into English below:

May all be well with mankind,
May the leaders of the Earth protect in every way by keeping to the right path.
May there be goodness for those who know the Earth to be sacred.
May all the worlds be happy.
